In what area of law do you practice and why did you choose this?
Litigation. I honestly never sought out litigation per se. It was a competitive outlet and I think I naturally gravitated towards litigation.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A marine biologist. My aunt lives in Florida and I swam with dolphins when I was really young. Then my family told me that marine biologists swim with dolphins every day for work. Still sounds pretty cool.
When did you decide you wanted to be a lawyer?
I was working at Medtronic as a medical device malfunction reporting specialist and got to meet a number of attorneys.
What would you be doing if you weren’t a lawyer?
Always wanted to own and operate a number of local gyms.
Tell us about a mentor who made an impact on your career.
I have two. Meghan Cooper and Steve Warner. I was a young lawyer and they taught me the ropes. I wouldn’t be where I am now if they weren’t a part of my life.
What do you like best about practicing law at H&J?
The people. My co-workers are pretty cool.
What is the best career advice you have received?
Always have options.
What is an item on your bucket list?
Backpack across Europe. Oh, and learn how to use chopsticks.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
Florida. It’s fun to try and catch the tiny lizards.
What is your favorite Minnesota Lake?
White Bear Lake. South Shore has the best bass fishing. If you know you know.
What is your favorite Twin Cities restaurant?
Objection: As a foodie, this question is unfair. Nothing beats a Parlour burger though.
When you are not working, what would people find you doing?
Fishing or going to concerts.
What is your favorite part of practicing law?
Helping my clients through tough times.

Dad.
What is a recent good book you read?
Prosser and Keeton on Torts. True classic.
What advice would you give to the young version of yourself who is just entering law school?
Meet as many people as you can and never say no to a happy hour.
What might people be surprised to know about you?
I dealt blackjack for two years.
What is your strongest asset?
I’m pretty good at putting myself in other people’s shoes.
If you have an out-of-town visitor, what are the “must see/do” things in the Twin Cities?
Get in a car, drive three hours to Duluth, then go site seeing.
