St. Paul’s proposed changes to the zoning code for cannabis retailers are shedding a new light on measures being taken by local governments. Carol Moss, Hellmuth & Johnson partner, and chair of the firm’s Cannabis Law practice group, spoke to the Star Tribune about how other Minnesota cities are approaching the commercialization of this new industry. She points out that some aspiring businesses are cautious signing commercial leases knowing that some communities have placed sales restrictions on cannabis products beyond the state’s legal guidelines.
